Fertile Ground: Sustainability and Education
Designed
for teachers of math, science, writing, art and other subjects who want
to integrate a multidisciplinary approach into their lesson plans, this
workshop examines the human and natural contributions to sustainability,
as well as historical remedies and future directions. Special focus is given
to local sustainability efforts including an examination of the local food
movement from the perspectives of art, writing, math, science and other
disciplines. Mary Seton Corboy, Greensgrow Farm Co-Founder and Chief Farm
Hand, is a featured speaker. A toolkit designed by Arcadia faculty from
a range of disciplines who are examining sustainability from a variety of
research and creative perspectives will be provided to each workshop participant.
The toolkit contains materials and resources for adapting sustainability
topics into interdisciplinary activities for use within the classroom.
