General Information

Who Can Participate

Teachers currently employed in K-12 schools in the Greater Philadelphia area, and others by special permission of the course coordinator, are eligible to apply to register for the courses. Teachers applying to take more than one course should indicate the order of their preference on the application form. If space permits, teachers may take more than one course.

Application Process

Space in the courses is limited. Course coordinators reserve the right to select candidates for each course from the applicant pool based on the applicant’s current employment and qualifications, as well as on course objectives.
Applications are accepted until courses and waiting lists are filled. For some courses, accepted applicants are asked to submit a transcript of undergraduate education.

Tuition

There is no charge to participate in these courses. Tuition and fees are underwritten by grants from the U.S. Department of Education.

Credit

Each 2010/11 course will be offered for Act 48 credit.

Course Materials

Course participants are expected to produce instructional resources and/or materials for use in their own classrooms. These materials may be made electronically available to other audiences and the public at large.Since the courses are funded by grants from the U.S. Department of Education, the materials produced in the courses belong in the public domain. In the course application, participants are asked to sign a license granting SEPCHE the right to reproduce and publish the materials as part of a collective work that may include materials from all courses in the series. Granting this license will not restrict participants’ right to reproduce and publish elsewhere materials created and/or authored by them, nor will it guarantee their inclusion in this work.
