SEPCHE Inter-Institutional Articulation Agreements

Overview

At a special, historic signing ceremony on Wednesday, May 28, 2003, the SEPCHE institutions entered into a series of articulation agreements among its members. The articulation agreements were developed in order to facilitate students’ progress from undergraduate to graduate education or the transfer from one SEPCHE institution undergraduate program to another so that they can pursue a major not offered at the campus of their original enrollment.

The articulation agreements serve the students’ best interests, as well as those of the region, by providing SEPCHE students with the broadest and best educational experience possible, by making the most efficient use of the educational resources available through the Consortium, and by keeping talented students in the greater Philadelphia area. It is hoped that the agreement will facilitate a potential “brain gain” both for the institutions and for the businesses, hospitals, schools and other employers in the Southeastern Pennsylvania area.

Under these agreements students graduating from one SEPCHE college or university, who have met the entrance requirements for a graduate program at another, will be admitted into that program; or undergraduate students who have who have met the requirements for admission to another SEPCHE institution, as well as for entry into a particular major, will matriculate at that institution and will be able to transfer credit for specified courses to meet and be applied toward degree-completion requirements there.

The agreements will be effective Fall 2003.
